Get a Library Card

Library cards are issued free to anyone residing within the Dixon city limits.  Proof of current address is required at the time of registration.

Children of preschool age (who can print their first names) through the 8th grade may be issued a card when the application is also signed by a parent or guardian.

Non-Residents

For those residing outside the Dixon city limits, a fee of $50 is charged for a family membership.  Individual cards are issued to each member of the family and may be used in both departments with the same rules applying to the cards as apply to cards of city residents.

Circulation

Loans

Books, magazines, audiobooks, and music CD's  are loaned for a 2 week period.  They may be renewed twice.  Videos, DVD's and cameras are loaned for 3 working days.  Compact discs, videos and cameras may be renewed one time.  Items may be renewed by phone.

Note regarding AV materials: 

VHS--DVD
Any person 18 or older with a valid adult Dixon Public Library card may check out up to up to 3 DVD's per card.  Any valid cardholder may check out up to 3 music CD's or audiobooks.  There is no fee; however, patrons will be charged for any damaged, lost or stolen DVD's, compact discs or audiobooks.

Loan Periods

Audiobooks or compact discs may be renewed twice.  DVDs check out for 1 week, no renewals.

A fine of $.50 per day will be charged for each overdue media item.  All media should be returned directly to the desk.  Items left in the outside book drop are subject to a $.50 fine. 

Because of copyright laws, all title are restricted to home use only.

Late Materials

Overdue rates are $.10 per day per item for all books and periodicals; and $.50 per day for all overdue media (DVDs, compact discs, audiobooks) and overdue and/or unclaimed interlibrary loan materials.  A fine of $.50 per item is assessed for media items dropped in the outside book drop.

bulletBorrowing privileges will be suspended when fines reach $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for children until fines are paid in full.
bulletBorrowing privileges will be suspended for patrons with materials overdue for 14 days or more until materials are returned and fines paid in full.

Interlibrary Loan
