Young Library Volunteers

For Youth ages 11 and up

Volunteer at the Dixon Public Library
Every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5pm.

Note:  First-time volunteers must attend orientation the first Tuesday of the month.

KNIT WITS Knitting Circle

JOIN US on July 6 and 20th
from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
at the Dixon Public Library's
"KNIT WITS"

This group is for anyone interested in knitting, crocheting, spinning, weavingknitting basket filled with red, blue and white yarn
 or other fiber arts.

We will meet in the Theresa A. Devine Room on the Library's lower level.

Participants should bring a project that they are currently working on.  There is no fee to attend the knitting circle.

Book Discussion Group

Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Everyone is welcome to attend the Library's monthly book discussion in the meeting room on the lower level of the building.  If all of our copies of the book are check out you can place a hold on the book or request a copy through Interlibrary Loan.

July Book Sale

The Friends of the Library "Little Bookstore" will be on July 25th from 10:00-12:00. The library accepts donations of used books in good condition (no magazines or textbooks, please).  Money from the "Little Bookstore" helps fund programs and special projects for the library.

Genealogy/Local History Computer

The library now has a computer dedicated to genealogy/local history use.

bullet This computer has a lot of local history books available in PDF format. 
bullet The Telegraph from 2006 to present is also available in PDF format. 
bullet You will also find a link to News Bank’s full-text, fully searchable database of the Sauk Valley Newspapers - Date Range: (10/9/2006-Current).
bullet This computer also has access to Ancestry.com. With more than 7 billion names and 26,000 searchable databases, Ancestry.com is the #1 online source for family history information, including the web's largest collection of historical records.

You will find this computer in the Adult Services Department near our drawers of microfilm and our microfilm reader/printer.
