Youth Department Computer Rules

1.    Children must sign in at the desk before using a computer.

*Computer time is filled on a first-come first served basis but children may call the library in advance to reserve a computer.

2.    Because we have a limited number of computers, children are allowed ½ hour of computer time and may have an additional ½ hour if no one is waiting.

*Computer time is limited to 1 hour per day to encourage children to make use of all library resources. Please ask the librarian if additional time is needed.

3.              Headphones are required when playing games with sound or when listening to music or watching videos.

4.              The computers in the Youth Department are filtered. The filtering will not be turned off for any reason other than homework. If a child needs the filter off for homework a parent or librarian should monitor the computer use.

5.              Children may choose only 2 games to play during their computer time.

6.              Computers are shut down promptly at 15 minutes before closing.

The Library Board has established a policy for appropriate use of the computers by children. The rules above and the Computer Use Policy will be strictly enforced.
