OCLC FirstSearch is an immense electronic database service.  OCLC FirstSearch gives Illinois library patrons access to billions of records.  Click on the "List All Databases" tab on the FirstSearch home page for more information about these databases.  One of our favorite databases is Wilson Select Plus.  It offers full text articles in science, humanities, education and business from over 2300 sources, 1,500,000+ records, from 1994 to present.  Select the Illinois Catalog database to search the catalogs of Illinois libraries and place Interlibrary Loan requests.  All this with your Dixon Public Library Card!

Search NewsBank's  full-text, fully searchable database of the Sauk Valley Newspapers.  Right now you can search issues from  10/09/06-Current.  From this database you also have access to America's News Magazines and NewsBank's Special Reports.  To access these databases from within the library, simply click on link above.  To access them from home, click on the link  above and enter your library card number.

NoveList is a fiction database that provides subject heading access, reviews, annotations, and much more for over 125,000 fiction titles. It also includes other content of interest to fiction readers, such as Author Read-alikes, What We’re Reading, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks, and Annotated Book Lists.  And there's a special NoveList for K-8!

NoveList is part of our online catalog.  When you see the NOVELIST icon in the online catalog, click on it to begin using NoveList.
